i'm getting paranoid  ...

i here digital clipping clicks everywhere. no, I know they're there - I just don't know why.

it's not overdriven (I checked all levels). it's a nasty high-frequence click that appears in almost steady intervals, the intervals get shorter (i.e. the recorded track gets worse) when recording in stereo.

this started to happen a week or so ago and I really don't know why.

i tested other sampling rates an even a different soundcard - no remedy.

it does NOT appear when I do not multi-track, i.e. i can record noise in wave-lab and it sounds fine.

HEEEELP... PLEASE!!! i have to finish a nice demo.

man, this is weird:

when i play a wav or mp3 file i get a buzzing sound when i scroll an internet-page... and it sounds VERY similar to the noise i get when multi-tracking.

i put in a new soundcard and now i can record cleanly again unless i playback too many tracks...

... so maybe my disk has to be also replaced soon.

I have a lot of buzzing when my hard drive DOESN'T work, but disappears when my harddrive works. Go figure. I would lean towards the sound card, but considering you replaced that...uummmmmmmm.

I dunno man. it might be the HDD

I usually get clipping and buzzing on many different occasions.
-power fluctuations (like when the neighbor runs their dishwasher)
-the unit is too close to the wall/power source
-the instrument or sound source it too close to the unit (computer)
-I have exceeded peak levels (which you haven't)
-the connection is loose, has a short in it or isn't all the way in the socket.
-there are other hard drives, speakers, television sets...etc. too close to the unit (computer)
-my mic is cranked but the fader is at 0 (clips every time)
-or the source of the clipping is completely unidentifiable
I don't have much experience in this area...but hope this helps

Clicks and pops are usually associated with a clock timing issue.. heres the deal.. you need to make absolutly sure that you are in one "mode" for lack of a better name for it on my part.. ALL at 48k or 44.1k or the like.. I had the same issue with my digital recorders, remote, and the digital board. ALSO, you need to make one of them the master and every thing else slaves to that... you just have clock conflicts otherwise...!!!
Thanks
Michael
