Disk problems

Hello, I am new here so if this has been repeated please forgive me.

I love my MD8, but recently I have been getting a lot of disk errors. I cleaned the machine with a vacuum and a lens cleaner. now sometimes it works good then it goes out again.

Another problem I am getting is when I record about 15 minutes on a disk, the machine stops recording. Also when I used the lens cleaner when I get to about the 15 minute mark it stops playing. The cleaning track is about 45 minutes long. The md8 Works until about minute 15 then shuts off. I then fast forward it to minute 20 and it works again. So on a disk between the minutes of 15 and 20 the machine wont play.

Any solutions will be greatly appreciated!

is this happening on one disc in particular or with all discs?

Not from personal experience, but from what I've read,...

there may be a heat sensitive problem, of sorts. You must make sure that your MD8 is on a hard/flat surface, that allows airflow on the top and bottom of the unit. Another test, might be to put a small fan on the MD8, aiming it at the top/rear of the unit, where the power supply is.

I've not had this problem, but I've read other posts on it. Try that out.

If cooling is not the issue, there may be a legitimate service issue, in which case I'd recommend getting Yamaha to service the MD8. Service info can be found on the Yamaha web page.
