Digital performer and tascam 1884 eq problems

So my friend has a question that i cant answer...(i dont have dp nor the 1884 interface) he uses dp 4 and cant get the eq buttons on his 1884 to work with any eq plugin on dp4. I thought i would try to help him out and ask someone on here?
 
one of the problems with the 1884 is not all programs provide templates for operation... so sometimes ya gotta roll your own... and sometimes you'll find that it's supported but not in the way you expected.... ie. at one time the eq in cubase instead of being on the EQ knobs (DUH?) it was on the faders .... dont expect help from tascam... suggest trying a forum specific to DP... good luck...
