Is it possible to use the MR-8 as a analog to digital converter without actually recording? I was wanting to run some of my soundtracks that are on cassette through it and maybe use the mastering effects and go out to my minidisc. I have accomplished this before by putting them into my computer, enhancing, then burning a CD, then going from CD to minidisc. I thought since I have the MR-8 now I might be able to by pass some of these steps and use it's digital out to go directly into my minidisc's digital in. Just an idea, but didn't know if it is possible because I lost my digita cord and don't want to buy another unless I know it works. I hear they are quite expensive.

I guess it dpeends if the digital out is "hard wired" out to play back whatever inputs you are using similar toi the headphone outputs. I guess you can try recording it song at a time then mastering out to you mini disc. It sounds like you can do this either way.

Interesting idea. Shop around for optical cables - the price differences are amazing. Target was much cheaper than Circuit City when I was looking.

A guy gave me a digital cable. I didn't buy the MR-8 for this, but it's great to know that I found another use for it. I recorded one of my soundtracks that was bad quality on cassette onto the MR-8 then using the "bright" mastering effect I recorded it onto my minidisc using the digital cable. The soundtrack now sounds just as good or better than the soundtracks that came directly from the studio.

While I had the soundtrack on the MR-8 I recorded myself doing the lead and the 2nd tenor. I also added a stack to the 2nd tenor at 1/2 volume. I can't believe the results. I am a one man trio!!
When I figure out how to do the other things to get it on my computer and the internet I will let you guys hear what I'm doing. If you can stand some gospel?

Just wait till I get more time. We have been practicing and picking new songs. Got to get some stuff done by March. We already have 6 bookings in March.

So let me get this straight. I need to get the material in my computer via USB. Do I then change it to MP3 for the internet?

Gospel,
Yes, but some converters actually erase the wav file in the process. Just make sure you save your wav file.
