I have a question about the Digi 001. I am about to get a Soundcraft e12 mixer. Right now I have a couple of preamps and record into a tascam 788 recorder and I also have an m-audio audiophile soundcard and an athlon xp 2100 w/ 120 gigs. Would it be easier for me to get the Digi001 used w/the protools sofware and sell the 788?

Thanks,
Jeremy

A lot of folks prefer to use both a standalone and software.
If your thinking of PT it works best with Macs.
I would highly recommend another system if your using a PC.

Digi001 does have some PC compatability issues, but they help with that on the website....i know many people who run a PC with Digi001 and pro tools and its flawless....

I run prostools on a digi 001 on a sony, and so far no problems

I run digi001 on my Atholon 1.4ghz, with Windows XP.

Never crashed, with windows 98 and ME, all it did was restart.

Windows XP with digi001 is the best thing to get.

32 tracks. Solid recording, 8in 8out, stereo SPDIF in/out, and 8in/out ADAT light pipe, when you want to upgrade your convertors to something better.

Digi001 is great.

Another vote for the 001 on PC

Stability is not an issue anymore with XP. Feature parity with macs is almost there. Many plugin manufacturers are coming onboard because of XP. Exceptional User Conference. And (without trying to start a platform war) at least twice the performance of a Mac (proven).

Basically if you get the right computer system, you can't go wrong.
Hop along to the DUC and check out the first topic on the board. It will give you all the info you need about the 001 on PC.

If you want to hear some stuff that I've recorded on mine, check out Shivers

Enjoy
