I'm trying to do a video. I have footage that I was able to transfer from my camera to a PC. Now I'd like to burn the vid to a DVD so that I can load it on my Mac but I can't figure out how to burn. The PC is a HP Media Center Edition 2005. I've burned a couple of DVD with something called "Sonic" but I wind up with a DVD that will play on my Mac but can't be saved to disc. How the heck do I burn a DVD in a format that I can save to disc on another machine?

Same boat . . almost like 2 peas in a technology pod!

I'm trying to do a video. I have footage . . [want to] transfer from my [panasonic vdr m-10] camera to a PC. How the heck do I [do this]

I have s-video cables which work, [footage shows on tv when hooked up] but no video capturing software on desktop and no internet access on this desktop workstation . .

I just did a quick google on that camera. Can't you record to the dvd then use the dvd in your computer?

VHS,

Thanks for that link...I'll snag that program. I'm still a newbie with digital video. What is the most universally accepted format for digital videos...Mpeg? For instance what format should I use to upload to YouTube? Or even better, is there a format that most any platform will accept?

Thanks for the help...

I don't know about your camera but I used a DV cable 1394 4 to 6 pin firewire. My camera is only compatible with PC which is why I have to first transfer to PC then to DVD to get it to my Mac. What OS are you running...I had no problem transferring once I got the correct cable.?

I use a program called CDBurnerXP for most of my disk burning. I'm pretty sure it does dvds.

VomitHS,

If you're still paying attention to this thread, I snagged the cdburner program and took a look. I'm a little confused about how to burn a DVD since there is no "Burn DVD" option on the main window. Would you enlighten me if you have the time?

Thanks

I found this one for Windows and Mac....it looks easy but I haven't tried it yet. If I'm reading correctly it will automatically burn the DVD to a standard format for most players.

ExpressBurn

I tried to put the disk in the cpu - my desktop will not read it at all . . my laptop will read it, but only the first clip is recognized . . i have 7 clips on the disc that show up ANYTIME i pull them up in the camera itself . . but when i put the disc in the dvd rom on my laptop - only the first clip is showing

where did you get this cable from? I called panasonic who said they could order it . . after i pay for it . . and THEN because it is on backorder - WHENEVER it comes available they will send it to me:mad:

Amazon.com...cost me $6 and change for the cable and shipping. I priced one at Best Buy and they wanted $40 for it. I buy a lot of electronics at Amazon. Also about two years ago I got the best price I could find around on Pro Tools LE 8...$169.
