Dad got 1.2a for free from his work (Newscaster) and we got 2.0 off the net.

Syntrillium have put out a fine product, and if you think enough of their product to use it regularly, you should support them by buying it - their pricing is very reasonable compared to other softwares. Paying for it willl help keep them in business, which is good for three very powerful reasons:

1 Syntrillium deserve it - they've put together an ace product, and everyone deserves real rewards for real work.

2 Syntrillium have an excellent bulletin board - one of the best on the web - keep Syntrillium in business.

3 Version 2.0 is way more powerful than version 1.2. It stands to reason that is Syntrillium stay in business, they'll come up with even better software.

You know, I've had companies die on me in the past - I have a good product, but suddenly no more upgrades, no more support - what a huge pain in the butt. It pays to pay in order to keep good companies in business. Letting other people do all the paying and supporting is essentially a chicken-assed approach, and trying to justify it is always bullshit.

Just had a review in latest Recording magazine. They loved it, best software for the price period. I am still learning, but sure seems like a great program.

I beat up the little kid next door and took his copy. He paid for it though. Does that count?:D

I downloaded and tried out the free demo from Syntrillium's website. I liked the program and believe it is a great value for the money, so I bought it.

Is CEP really such a bargain?

I paid the $80 to upgrade to 2.0. It retails for $250. Consider that Cubase SL retails for around $300. SL has everything SX has except for a couple of automation features and a few other nonessential odds and ends. Thats VST support, complete automation on every effect and parameter, MIDI, sequencing, etc for $50-70 more than CEP. Sonar generally runs for $300 but the dif there is that the effects native to sonar are mostly mediocre. What CEP offers is a solid, reliable package that has a very intuitive interface. Still the most intuitive by far. It also offers solid and unique sounding effects. Its effects are better than average for effects native to a host program...but given what you get for a little more, it pays to get cubase.

I buy all my own software as I need to, being a software developer myself, I know what it's like to have someone steal a copy of your program either by making a copy off someone elses CD or just downloading it for free on peer to peer net programs.

But serious Folks, What can we do about it? there are millions of online users sharing applications everyday.

I'm currently creating an application and am working on a way to try and stop any duplication to be made of my application.

Now, let's get back to the "COOL EDIT PRO" descussion huh?
