Did I make a mistake by buying an unbalanced patchbay?

I recently bought a patch bay with unbalanced 1/4" inputs (48). I wanted to skip that extra step between rack gear of converting from balanced to unbalanced and back etc. Was this a mistake or will I be ok with this?

yup, probably, uh huh, definitely a mistake, sure, you betcha, that's a whoopsy!

In a word...

Yes

Balanced patch bay supports unbalanced connections.

i cant get a clear signal with ballanced patch bay longer than 10 feet, imagine what you are facing :(

I didn't even know such a thing existed... What's the point?

What do you mean you wanted to avoid the step of converting between balanced and unbalanced? What gear are you using?

Basically, it's better to buy balanced patchbays because they work with either balanced or unbalanced gear.

You might be getting confused. Just because you plug an unbalanced signal into a balanced patchbay, it doesn't convert the signal to balanced. An unbalanced signal stays that way.
