did I get the shaft on this mixer...

I've been looking for a mixer to use for home recording and for my band's performances. I was looking at the Berhinger MX2004 ($299+S&H), but when I stopped at a local retailer yesterday I found a used original Mackie CR1604 with the expansion board to take 16 XLR inputs. I paid $400 including tax. Was I taken?
