Fostex E-2 not erasing.
OK I figurd out why it wasn't recording, wrong type of XLR cable so I got the right ones.
Now I can't seem to erase. It came with an Ampex 499 tape which had some prerecorded music on it. I can record overtop of it, overdub so to speak, but isn't it supposed to be erasing the prerecorded stuff as I record new material overtop it?
There is an adjustment underneath the meter board if you pull that off, it is a little dial like a standard head screw which says Erase Adj. if I turn that all the way one way, then I can't hear anything at all, no playback or nothing. If I turn it back the other way everything is normal, except the erase head still doesn't erase.
