i just got a delta 44 and have been tinkering with it's settings but i have a problem.
basically, my computer's soundcard no longer works. the delta 44 doesn't act as a normal soundcard, but it only outputs what's being input to it. i need to hear regular sounds as well as things going in/coming out of the 44.
there is no way to enable/disable the stock soundcard. it's acting as if it's locked.

i'd prefer the delta44 to act as THE soundcard for the computer. so basically output computer noises and input noises

my computer is a hp media center pc m7060n
dual 3ghz processors
1gb ram
200gb hd
60gb ext. hd
..umm that's probably all that is relevant.
this is the only pci device that i've added.

i don't care whether or not the delta acts as output or the stock soundcard does. i need the normal system sounds. i can output what the delta does while recording through the normal sound card.

help me!
thanks
(yeah, i'm sure this is ultra n00b)

my screen name is also fiveinfiveidie if someone wants to walk me through this that way, which would work way better.

Have you tried disabling the the onboard soundcard via BIOS?

Also, have you selected your new soundcard as the primary sound device in windows settings?

yes on the windows sound device settings.

BUT, there are 3 different options and i had the wrong option selected.

problem fixed.

thanks for the prompt on that one.

just out of curiousity, is there a way to get both to work in conjunction or not? i like being able to control the computer's master volume with my keyboard and remote rather than the speakers themselves

No problem..

I'm not quite sure about you're other questions.... I've never tried two soundcards together personally. But, I've heard of people using one for input and the other for output (no double input or double ouput configs)... There are threads here about that.....

As far as your volume controls go... Try poking around with the Windows "Volume Control" app (in the settings)... If that doesn't work, it's possible that your keyboard and/or remote have/use an application to route those buttons to specific places... Maybe do some Googling on that lead...

actually i might have spoke too soon. :(
now i have no sound again

This may seem like a really dumb suggestion....

Have you connected the speaker plug to the delta (as opposed to the old soundcard)?

yeah, i'm trying 3 outs on the delta right now. 2 with speakers and 1 with phones

Can you do a screen print of your Start > Settings > Control Panel > Sound And Audio Devices (volume and audio tabs)? I'm hoping this is still the source of the problem...

figured it out (for real this time)
ok, so remember how i said the keyboard volume didn't work? it kind of does. if you hit any of the buttons, it mutes the wav volume. which is why it made sound for a short period of time. it was loud and i was like oh shit, so i volume down'd it which muted it.

i tried 32835893258958932 combinations of ins and outs before i found out that it was the keyboard volume controls that killed it.

edit: this is why i probably didn't have sound in the first place
