Actually, maybe I should offer the 1800 to TASCAM MAN. Free. :)

shit jimmy I don't even know what an 1800 is  at least give me a brand name and I'll go look it up haha :D

:)............

Business as usual around here. :D Loved your groove with your son in the clinic man. Just lost time to comment, and quite frankly, had nothing productive to say. Sounded great!

Thanks Jimmy I appreciate the compliment and if you get a chance listen to the one I posted on the mp3 clinic I think named "one late nite....." a cool moody sounding whistle patch I came up with on the old Korg DW8000....I had one comment from a guy (forgot his name) that thought it sounded something like David Bowie would do wow what a compliment:listeningmusic:

You'll be hearing from my attorney :cursing:!

Or, uh....you would if I had one.

I haven't had a chance to listen yet, but hope to soon. My guess is the two songs aren't too similar :).

Ok, listening now....

The bass guitar and kick sound pretty awesome to me. Snare is a little dark for my tastes on something like this, but it sounds good, just maybe more crack to it?

I wish your vocals could come up maybe just a little and have a little more sparkle/bite, or whatever to 'em.

The cymbals sounded a little odd to me this time. They're awesome in their precision and whatnot, but it almost sounds like they're gated or something...as if the decay wasn't long enough or something? I dunno...my setup here isn't that great - just my initial impression. It's all super tight and there's a tremendous amount of separation. That's all to be expected with one of your tracks though.

Thanx man. I've been re-mixing this all morning. I think I addressed some of those issues. Besides a few EQ tweaks, I think I had a too dark reverb on a few things. So, I made those changes and a few other things.

Not sure about what you're saying about the cymbals. I didn't change anything there from what I usually do.

I just put up a new mix, for those interested.

Opening guitar's a bit harsh, drums are great, tune's in the pocket. I like it, but I really think you should ease back on that opening guitar's high end, and maybe the vocal as well (listen to the vocal sound when the singer's holding the 'how' word and the 'be' word. It hurts, just a little bit.).

"Too dumb to know when I'm too stoned". Is that possible? :)

I like this one. It deserves to sound less like a visit to the dentist. I think you tried a bit too hard to bring things out in the mix. No fear. It's in there. You can ease back on the highs. This one rocks.

nice grind on that guitar!
there's a lot of high end missing on the guitar and voice

I wish your vocals could come up maybe just a little and have a little more sparkle/bite

I really appreciate all the advice I get here. But sometimes, I don't know who's listening on what, because if one's thing's true, then the other thing can't be.
when the singer's holding the 'how' word
I had to look at my lyrics to make sure, but the word "how" isn't even in this song. Not even once.

Great tune. Drums are sounding really nice on my monitors. I like the wider spacing on the OH's though I know others will think it's too artificial.

I thought the vox were a little thin. With the guitars panned out a bit, you really don't have much competing up the middle with them, so dial in some lower freqs. Personal preference really, it works well the way it is.

Hey rami, I listened to it on my iPhone so I won't comment OB the mixing. I just wanted to say that I lived the tune all the way around. Great lyrics, performance, and arrangement. It was unpredictable and I live that!
Great work

That's an interesting point, and something I've been thinking about lately. For my part, I'm not listening in a treated studio with quality monitors. It's a small, bookshelf speaker w/ sub set up connected to a desktop off the dining room. It is the same set up I've been using to listen to stuff in the clinic for 5 years or so though, so I'm pretty familiar with it.

I think you should assume that whenever I give you feedback, it's subjective, as I never hear anything I would consider objectively wrong with your mixes (or Greg's, or some others in here).

I've been getting lots of contradictory advice on some tracks lately too. I think that may be a good thing? I mean, if everyone (or the majority) says basically the same thing (like, turn down the bass and turn up the vocals or something) then there's probably something to it.
On the other hand, If lots of people are giving very specific advice that is contrary to each other, then maybe they kind of cancel each other out? Maybe that means you're pretty much there and everyone is just offering small tweaks that they might try in your shoes?

I dunno...just my thoughts. Again, it's an interesting question, and I for one don't want to contribute to any confusion for anyone.

Yes, that's how I look at it. It's not a bad thing to get a variety of opinions. It's a good thing if not for any other reason than it makes me go back and really listen, which sometimes leads to hearing other stuff I might have missed.

I'm listening to this with fresh ears this morning and I do hear a little bit too much lip smacking on the vocals and a couple of frequencies that need to be tamed. I wouldn't have gone back and listened if it wasn't for reading people's opinions on the mix, so it's always appreciated.
