MJB, the part you don't care for (low vocals), is that only because it's too low in volume? If that's the only reason, then it's supposed to be like that. If it sounds "off" for other reasons, like if it's off-key or pitchy, then that's a different story.

Yeah, it just sounds off because the volume is so low.

I think the intro guitar part is exactly what you described - because its a sim, it stands out from the other guitar sound. But maybe a little EQ would fix it.

OK great, man. Thanx a lot. Yeah, I could probably EQ the guitar, but it would probably take less effort and sound better if I just re-amped it with a good sound.

For anyone listening to this song as of now:

I will be changing the intro guitar riff that plays throughout the tune. Thanx to everyone else's good ears, I solo'd that track and it's really sloppy, which is where it all starts. The sim sound doesn't help either.

Later today, I'll be re-recording that part, through my amp like I should have done to begin with.

I see that you are redoing the one guitar part, so I am looking forward to hearing that. I don't at all dislike what I am hearing, but I know that if you say it can be better, it can be better.

In absence of that fact, this sounds remarkably good to me. It all works for me. As a whole, the song is great. Riffy, melodic, wonderfully flowing and interesting. A couple things that strike me as particularly good in both how they feel and how they sound are the drums and the bass. Great tone, and man, do you tease out a really great sense of punch in the low end here.

Luckily, I can change that intro sound. I actually got lazy and used a sim on that riff, instead of my amp. Maybe that's the reason it stands out so much as being shrill. I don't think I've used a sim guitar sound in years and years. The good thing is I can just go in and change the sound at the touch of a button. So I will try to get a better sound out of it, or maybe I'll just use my amp like I probably should have in the first place.

I'm glad someone else caught that. I'd have never said anything as I don't trust my ears so much on sim vs amp. I was thinking the same thing, just no breakup on the betweens, no grit in the right places...maybe my ears are getting better.

That makes my day, brother. I really appreciate it. I don't ask for much out of life, but I have an obsession with people liking my music, and that includes all 18 people that might actually get to hear it.

I like the T-shirt idea.

I was using the song title as a false excuse to leave that guitar part the way it is, thinking that it sounds a little "defective". But the reality is that it should be played and sound better.

This is why I post my tunes here. I almost didn't post this one, since on my last tune, I said "this is the last re-post of an older song". But I just don't trust myself enough, and in this case, it's a damn good thing I decided to post or else that guitar part would have stayed. So, kudos to this place and you guys.

I liked the intro better, which was the point, but I think the main vocal sits way better now without the old guitar tone fighting it. Great stuff.

The new guitar tone is much better. those little up-stroke pick notes have that tonal breakup I was missing...my ears are not, ... , no, I'm not going to say it...

Awesome, man. Thanx. Nothing like a real amp and good timing. I don't know why I treated that riff like it wasn't important considering it's the main riff of the tune. I think I was too influenced by "Oh well, the tune is called defective, so let it be sloppy". Stupid.
