DAW Users With ADD

It took me forever but I finally got around to reading this whole thread.
It's had its moments. Unfortunately they are mostly limited to my posts. :D

BTW, I'm sober now. Funny how drinking is less fun the following day. :(

And I'm happy for you. Man, I love being drunk. But I'm sober now. But hey, tomorrow I'm gonna be backing women and riding horses, tanked off my face on liquor, shaving my head, dancing on a table, and then I will temporarily black out.........
Dogman....is that you?

You may want to read your posts sober.......

IE7
I updated Internet Explorer yesterday, and after fifteen minutes of rejection,I really like it.Definitely a big change for the better. It reminds me of how Sonar6 is laid out.

Other conputer stuff
My DAW has a 40G and 80G drives. Now I wish I would've got bigger/more drives. :( My system drive only has 9 gigs of free space  and I have almost six gigs of samples on the way.Would I be correct in assuming that an external USB2 drive would only be good for archiving?

It would be nice to have a drive just for samples and loops, also I'm thinking about adding one more gig of RAM to bring it up two gigs.I haven't really looked at the slots, but am I mistaken in thinking RAM should be all the same cards?Maybe I could just add 512 or maybe I'd have to get two one gig sticks?

When software is installed using a hardware dependent authorisation reply, would adding RAM cause me to reauthorise my plugs?

PACKERS
What can I say about this one?
All signs point to a victory, which makes me think they'll lose.

I have a computer illiterate buddy who called me last week saying he is getting an error message upon boot. I asked him what he did, and he swore that he hadn't done a thing. It just started appearing. I asked him what the message said, and Googled it. Turns out it is the result of a problem with IE7 and his DSL line. Easily fixed by deleting a file.

I called him back and asked him if he had downloaded IE7. He says, oh yeah, and now that I mentioned it, the problem started happening right afterwards.

Anyway, I also like it better than IE6, but I still use Firefox. Firefox now has a built in spell checker. Which is why my posts here are spelled impeccably. :D

I wish I could get the motivation to change to Firefox - I guess I don't like change. But I was happy to d/l the beta of IE7  And no problems to report.

Happy birthday Guy, guess you had a happy time after your wife saw your newly bald chin (to match your head :D )

Mike, sorry, didn't understand your situation well enough, didn't mean any offence. I hope you get fixed up soon. You know the drill - make a list of all the people you know who could guide you to a job and then call em. Alternatively, agents can be useful, especially ones specialising in your field. I can't believe you are going to have many problems getting a job.

Drinking - I got plastered last night and am paying the price today - big hangover. :o

Only one more week of work to go and its then 10 days off :)

Have a good week boyz, take it easy.

Giants
Will someone please eliminate them from any playoff possibility so I can end my misery.

Are we gonna have a 7-9 team get a wildcard berth in the NFC? 8-8 should be a shoe-in.

Acid....Happy Birthday Bro...kind of late, but since you've hidden your age, I'll blame you..... :D

USB2 drive.....I use one for storing stuff. My samples for DFHS are on my main drive. I think USB2 would work for using the samples, but it could cause some delays. Get a bigger drive.....I bought a 300GB one for $79 at Staples....they have sales quite often.

I have two internal drives (200 + 300) and two external drives (250+ 300) and I am still running out of space

I am having a "new" computer next week - my daughters boyfriend has a friend who had a fire in his offices and the PC's have been replaced on insurance because they are "smoke damaged".

So for the price of a bottle of wine, I get a "new" puter and a flat screen. I am told it is a P4; if it is, I may network it so it can hold my VSTi's. If not, I still get a flat screen. :)

Later!

Your manual should be able to tell you what the requirements for adding memory are. Generally memory must be matched pairs. In other words, there will be four slots broken down into two pairs. The memory size for each pair must be the same, although the pairs themselves can be different.

You're going to need to look to see how the current memory slots are populated before you decide what you need. For example, if you have a total of 1 gigabite of memory, it could be installed as 4 X 256 MB chips, 2 X 512 MB chips, or a single 1 GB chip. If all four slots are filled, you would need to remove a pair in order to increase the overall memory size. If only one slot is filled, you can pretty much put whatever size you want by using a slot from the other pair. (Check the manual, though, since this differs from machine to machine.)

When you are ready, there is a very handy program on the Crucial web site. It allows you to enter your MoBo's (or computer's) make and model and it will tell you exactly what memory chips can be used in it. www.crucial.com

HOWEVER, don't order the memory from Crucial. Just get the part number for the size you want, and order it from Newegg. I found out the hard way that Newegg sells Crucial memory for significantly less than Crucial sells it direct.

Computer stuff
I'm really just thinking out loud,I'll see how things run once I get the samples installed.More than a gig is recomended by a lot of the GPO users, but I'm thinking they're using mostly samples.Which brings me to....

??????
So I buy the Garritan soundsets a few weeks back, and select PayPal for payment. No bill comes,so I fire off an E-mail.The response says I'll be billed when they are shipped,as of today there was no response. At 3:30 I get a phone call from Garritan, asking me If I still want the samples,as I have signed up but have not yet payed them. :confused:I mention the fact that no one sent a bill and the lady says they do things differently.  I ended up giving her my charge card, and now I'm leary.

I just hope they make it by this week, she said she may get them out today.

That porn takes up a lot of room. ;)

Sold my Deltas in the Free ad forum in days (which just goes to show I didn't ask enough for them). Of course now I need to replace them (with something firewire). I've been looking at the Presonus Firestudio and the RME fireface 800 (only twice as expensive  )

Hey, this thread is for sports, and discussing Paul's gayness. You have a lot of nerve mentioning recording equipment.

Man, the wheels really fell off the Giants' wagon, didn't they? ;)

Along with recording equipment, we will not be discussing the Giants in this thread either.

Two months to go to pitchers and catchers.

I am looking to replace my Delta66+omni at some stage and I am looking at the Firewire gear too. However, I think I will struggle manfully on and spend any spare cash on a new guitar - I have set my heart on the Fender strat 60th Anniversary edition. A snip at $750

But I also want to have my 12 string Crafter fret dressed and action lowered. After the success of my Crafter "Taylor 410CE" copy remodelling, this is a "must do" gift to myself. ;) Around $100 but its like having a new guitar.

Chuck's soundcard
So we know you sold them and you're getting a new one,the question is why?

Geek talk
I was reading a thread about the difference between a 44hz and a 192khz card,I'm always a skeptic when it comes to things like that, how many "classic" albums were recorded to 48/16 ADAT? Are they somehow inferior to new digital stuff? I think there is a geek culture out there that worships hardware specs and are suckers for marketing.

The main thing that could improve my recordings would be talent. :o

PACKERS
They're hyping Thursday night game as possibly "#4's last game at Lambeau",I'm pretty sure he'll be back.
The game is on the NFL network, which means Milwaukee and Green Bay get the game, but no one else....unless you have the dish. There's gonna be some not happy people in Wisconsin this week.

That's the made in Mexico version,C'mon Paul, ante up for the American model.

I am a plantar fasciitis sufferer
That means my feet hurt. :(
I just got a cortisone shot in each of my heels and I guess it takes awhile to work,or maybe not work.
Unfortunately taking off work was not a cure in my doctors opinion...wtf does he know.
Of course there is also the home remedy, drugs and alcohol, but that can lead to other problems. :D

Plantar fasciitis The most common foot complaint, mostly of people who are on their feet all day, like Policemen but also of atheletes - so Mike and I have no worries at all of ever getting it:D My brother suffers from it very badly as he is a marathon runner.

In the old days it was thought to be linked to sexually transmitted diseases

But it is a disease and is degenerative - I thought I would cheer you up with that. Oh, and if you weren't aware already, it is extremely painful. ;) Anti-inflammatory drugs are the usual relief for it.

I would also reccomend long periods in bed, close attention from your wife at all times to attend to your every whim and fantasy as well as long periods playing guitars and other musical instruments.

:)
