Ummm... I'm not crazy about the drum sounds, but there's nothing wrong with them, either. I can't quite put my finger on exactly what's buggin' me about em'.. Maybe it's their general lack of personality when the rest of the instruments are full of personality. If the drums were sampled, you did a killer job on getting them to sound acoustic.. If they were acoustic, ya might want to work on your dynamics while playing.. It was kind of like the drums were barely coherent, while the rest of the instruments were on fire.

Guitars / vocals / bass were awesome!

Good job.

Thanks for listening & commenting... I think what you're hearing is my playing (or at least may lack ability!). Yeah, the drums are all real - all 14 tracks of them (I went a bit OTT, I think!)....but you got me, I'm definitely not a drummer, but I like to have a go anyway - I'm learning lots.

Holy crap, what a great song! I wish I sucked half as bad a you do on the drums....sheesh! (even a kit would be nice, a room, mics, etc) You tossed everything but the blender in that mix and it fricken worked, nice. I'm gonna have to keep this one

Thanks, I appreciate the compliment... but truly, when it comes to drums, as a player, I am the weakest link in my studio's signal chain!

This sounds pretty polished man. You have a lot going on but everything sounds pretty well balanced to me. I thought your drum playing was great. I don't play much myself, but from a non-drummer's perspective, you sound like a drummer.

I too wasn't crazy about the sound of the drums though - kind of passive I guess. It really works pretty well for the type of song you've put together here though, just maybe gives it more of a mellow vibe than I'm guessing you were going for. Well done all around ff.

Yeah, I can think like a drummer (duh...1,2,3,4- which is more numbers than a guitarist knows, BTW - "duh...11" - in case you didn't guess, I'm a guitarist,now that I've offended everyone!), but the physical act of playing requires a lot of forethought & work for me, whereas a real drummer would just react naturally to the music & come up with something wonderful. The drum sound... yeah... I'm actually a bit ambivalent about it - I'm quite happy with how it turned out - but I probably had something else in mind when I envisioned the mix... Thats the "problem" when dealing with real drums - you're confined to what you've got - but I think I'd rather settle with the natural sounds rather than go down the sample replacement/augmentation route... + not really knowing what you'll end up with is half the fun of recording & mixing your own stuff.
