Most units are in the frkn attic baking at 145deg...it makes me laugh really...like putting a fhkng ice maker in the attic?
That must depend on where you live. I've never seen an AC unit in an attic. Most around here are in the basement or utility closet and they are part of the furnace. The compressor is outside.
Around here, you want to keep the whole house cool mainly to keep the humidity from destroying your house. You don't grow mold, your woodwork doesn't expand and contract several times a day, etc...

I know what he's talking about, I've seen houses in Texas that they are in the attic.

Typically, in most house in Ontario - the unit is outside. (I have one, it's just broken).

Because I have a broken one, I was in the "must get another one" train of thought -- so I didn't even consider little window units. Window units still doin' it's job tonight !!

BTW... we had a little taste of U.S. weather up here this afternoon... couple of small tornadoes touched down 20 km from here.... ( 12 miles). We're not too used to that kind of wind.

My father in law is up here from Houston right now, so... he's obviously brought this with him..... :D

yeah I'm talking texas with attic units, and more. a radio show when I first heard it. Same with me, fix the broken Central or try the new window units.

And I did the window units and the bills dropped greatly for me (a few hundred a month savings). My monthly bills got to as high of $900,(two story= two units) and now, the past summer and going into this one, I'm at $200 range. Some compromise, some rooms warmer, 78deg, but it was somewhat forced and somewhat a "test project" to see. The way it is now is , if your hot...go to a cool room. We don't keep the entire house cold.

unfortunately, the gasoline went up so this is eating all mys savings!! damn them all to hell!:D

Funny thread...Central Air and Pre-Amps!

I'm thinking of starting a similar thread in the mic forum: "Table saws & condensor mics: the importance of gain staging."
