supercreep & incanus,
I'd downloaded this when I pulled up Momento.
The 1st half of the intro is a real glam stomp.
I LOVE the Harrisonesque arpeggio chords standing on their own for a few moments.
The lyrics at 3.30 are particularly poingnant.
The change at 4.20 works really well.
Your use of language is extremly good - I don't mean high camp or posh - very often you find better words to say things with.
I also love the longer strings that make up your melodies.
Sonically this has the LPC trade mark beautiful bass, chiming guitars, solid flexible percussive base and the odd interesting tweak or revealation to maintain my interest and THAT voice.
Muscular or perhaps "wirey" is the adjective that comes most easily.
No nits re mix. I'm on my third listen & just enjoying it - I'm unable to dissect it.

Thanks Ray. I appreciate the listen. Incanus wrote all the odd-time parts and played all the guitars on this one except the coda/solo portion. I'm still thinking about adding a little B3, but maybe we're done. My ears are shot. :o

i really enjoyed this. great vocals especially at about 4 minutes great mixing of vocals. i thought it sounded and was performed great.

This is brilliant, Supercreep, really classy!:)
Voice and harmonies sound beautiful, guitars sound crisp and clear, drums have the right presence, bass sounds great. Nothing wrong with it, the mix is great. Well done!

Joey :):):):)

Dude, that was real nice.

Lyric content and vocal style - I dig!

Superclean playing. I have no chance of ever covering this tune.

Coda was way cool. Walking on the Moon-ish.

Bass playing was nice. Good note choices.

I'dve used a little more grit/dirt on the guitar, but that;s me.

Y'all rock. Kudos!
Thanks!
Matty

This is really nice. I'm on crappy headphones so no comments on the mix. Sorry.

Nice arrangement. I need to take notes. Enjoyed it a lot!!! :D

Oh, really like the title, too.

Finally I got to listen to this.

Most exelent, I love the vox on this, I love the vox on all your stuff, freakin great singer:cool:
The harmonies are spot on.

Guitars sounds very fresh and clear.

Drums are tight and groovey sounding, Love your drum sound. Its a perfect 70`s sounding too me.
Btw Chris Squire wants his bass sound back:cool::cool::cool:

I love beatles guitaring at 2.45, here comes the sun:)

I have no mix critic to come with on this, it just sounds amazingly like I would like my tunes to sound:D

Thanks for the listens, everybody.

Is the song too quiet?

Thanks for listening.

I think I know why it may be a little too quiet--

There was a very loud peak in the song, a good 3 or 4 dbs louder than the next highest peak. We turned down that peak a little, but if we turn it down any more it may become noticeable in the mix. We may have to play with that a little more.

Once we have a version of all the songs for the cd, we can compare the relative levels then.

The only thing that sticks out to me is the drums...I'm not a very experienced mixer but it sounds like it might be a compression issue...again I'm not sure what it is but it sounds boxy/snappy or something. It has an edge. It's most noticeble to me at lower volumes on headphones.

Aside from that I think it is another incredible LPC composition with outstanding writing, arrangements and performance.:cool::cool::cool:

Nice panned guitars. The snare needs a little more high end. Shoot, I'd even take some ambience on it too.

Nice bass sound, but that clean pick'd gtr takes the cake.

Kinda turns into a Cream "Badge"...but doesn't (at 2:45).

So...that's gotta be a Ric, eh? Tell me it's a Rhondo gtr so I can impulse buy one!!:D:cool:

Nice ld vocals too...especially around the 4 min mark as the verb falls off the cliff. I love that. Good stuff. Gimme some space on the drums and I'd be happy. Great ending too....musically that is. You don't hear that kind of stuff much anymore it seems.

Oh...and Nowhere Radio... Haven't been there in ages. Waldo still around? I think my account got canceled for lack of use!! ha! started using Lightning and soundclick.... no d/l limits that affected what I was doing, unlike Waldo...or number of songs on the account, etc. seems you could only change songs every so often or so... I can't remember...it's been 5 years I think!

Nice tune, great musicianship

I've heard a few of your songs, seen your website, looks like you've got a great room for recording drums. I'm assuming that you like the "dry 70's drum sound" If this is your style, I can accept that. It's like a fleetwood mac rumours kind of snare sound.

I'd like to hear one of your tunes with a mix with some real live sounding drums. Seems like the snare drum your using is dead at the source. I like fat too, but if there are no transients due to undertuning, overdamping and compressing with too short attack times, it sucks the life out of the drums. The snare and kick are often so close to the same pitch it's hard to pick one from the other. Seems like kick has no resonance either with the same issues as the snare. How about some nice room reverbs on the snare to soften the transients instead of a compressor?

Please don't take offence to this, I just hear your songs differently than you do. They are great mixes and performances as is. I just think they would be awesome with a well tuned kit that sounding as exciting as the drummers performance!

Impressive song. I dig the sound of the drums, snare too. Bass and guitars - interesting parts and engaging tone. Cool meter change at :42, 1:23 and later. Instruments are nicely balanced in EQ. Vocal needs a touch more in the low mids IMO.

We definitely want to learn how to get a more modern drum sound. Can I get in touch with you when we are preparing to record drums again? I have way too many questions, and that sort of narrative would belong in the drums forums. I appreciate the feedback.
