Wow....

Midipunk, those are the coolest drums Ive seen in a really long time. I like how you have them setup too. I wish I could afford to have something like that. Do they sounds as killer?

SoMm

Thank you! I put them together on the average budget, just took a few years. You can do it if you really want.

Toms are 60's Ludwig 3-ply w/rings, Bass is 70's Ludwig 28" Marching, wrap from sambarnard.net. Electronics are 80's Tama Techstars.
They sound pretty much like they look ;)

premier genister silver sparkle 4 piece.
8 and 14 inch toms with funny mounting system thingy.
20 kick
14 brass premier snare with signia lugs
18 bosphorus crash ride
15 inch meinl crash
20 inch meinl ride
13 paiste dimensions hi hat
occasionally use:
10 istanbul splash
12 premier effex snare

nothing great but it suits my style of playing.

I have about three different complete kits.

My primary kit.Started out as an old Tama 7 piece Swingstar and is now a completely custom Kellar maple shell kit with Tama,Yamaha, Pearl and DW/Pacific hardware.

20" x 16" kick
(I also have a 22" x 16" kick which I occassionally switch off to)

10" x 8" mounted tom
12" x 9" mounted tom
14" x 10" mounted tom
16" x 14" floor tom
18" x 16" floor tom

I own 7 different snares

my primary snare is a Yamaha Custom Birch Absolute 14" x 6" with maple rims.

14" x 9" Custom maple snare with maple rims.

14" x 5.5" custom maple with cast rims and groove block.

14" x 7" Tama steel shell

14' X 5.5" Slingerland mahogany

14" x 6" Mapex bronze

13" x 4" custom maple piccollo

I use the Yamaha snare stand.

My Slingerland Mahogany set (ca. 1962) for small venue gigs

20" x 14" kick

12" and 14" mounted toms (the 14" used to be the floor tom on the 4 piece set, but I cut it down to be a mounted tom)

I added a Ludwig 16" x 14" floor tom.

My Rogers kit

20" x 14" kick
12" mounted
14" floor

All of my drums are finished in gloss black so I can add and sitch if I want to. I have a bunch of additional toms that I have also finished in gloss black that I can add in. I have two 13" toms and I even have a 20" floor tom (the heads and rims are friggin' expensive!)

I own about three dozen cymbals, mostly Zildjian "A's" and "K's" and a few Paiste (I wish they were still making their formula 602, they were my favorite).

I have a Yamaha strap drive double pedal which I occassionally use, but my favorite pedal is my old Gretsch floating action single. I own two in case I lose one or it breaks. They have been improved by adding the bearing and spring mounts from an Iron Cobra.

Most of my hardware is Tama and Yamaha with the Pearl double tom mount bracket in the kicks. DW/Pacific hi-hat stand. My own concoction of a right and left hand stick quiver on either side of me in easy reach yet out of the way.

whenever i fill and stuff, i always try to avoid using toms. i dont know what it is, i just have this thing in my head where i think im showing off if i use all my drums. most of the fills i do are between hi hat, snare, bass and cymbals. i really only use toms for rhythms.

Greetings to all. New member here.
Here's what I currently job with.
Remo Acousticon about 5yr's old jazz sized 5 piece 10,12,14,18 bass. Mapex 5 x 12 maple snare with Rennisance batter. Fiberskyn3 batters on the toms and diplomats on the bottoms. Bass drum is powerstroke3 on batter, Fiberskyn on the front, no hole.
Cymbals are 16,18,20 paiste 2002 crashes, paiste 12 splash, paiste or zildjian 14 hi-hats( job dependant) and 20 zildjian medium ride. DW hihat and bass drum pedals and pearl light weight stands. 2 LP cowbells and 2 blocks along misc. percussion.

This setup is lightweight, flexible and extremely powerful. Goes from a small jazz combo to a community orchestra to a 17 piece big band and records extremely well. Many comment on how great this set sounds inspite of the size.
I am very surprised that more people are not playing Remo drums. They have got to be the most underrated drum set manufacturer around
i also use Roland Vdrums and have 2 sets of Rogers that are not utilized very often since parts are hard to come by.
Also an Alesis 16 drum machine, Roland Handsonic and LP congas and bongos.
The Remos are the bread and butter. The rest are dessert.
If you have a chance, check out the Remo drums. You will be pleasantly surprised.
Best wishes to all.
