Cubase Recording Problem

Hi everyone.

I'm running Cubase SX3 on PC.

I've recently borrowed a Midi Keyboard and I've come across a problem which I can't get my head around when recording on to a Midi track.

Using any Midi Soundset/or Reason as an output I can hear the keyboard as I'm playing through my speakers (with almost no latency).

All is fine, but as I look at the track I'm recording (either on the event in the main project view or in the 'piano roll') Cubase only 'writes' down the notes almost exactly 6 seconds after I have struck them on the keys.

I know Cubase detects the note being struck exactly when I hit the key because of the midi signals all over the transport panel. As a result, on play back, the notes are indeed sounded and written 6 seconds after the intended position.

I hope this is fairly clear.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi all again.

Solved, after a few fairly solid hours of methodically checking and un-checking (every) option box in Cubase I found of interest in Devices > Device Setup, under 'Windows MIDI'. There is an option there saying "Use System Timestamp" which needed to be checked (turned on).

Apparently Cubase then "ignores the MIDI timestamps provided by the interfaces and generates new timestamps (using the actual system time) for all incoming MIDI data."

Ta anyway!

weird I had the exact same problem while using cubase, but thanks to you I it's fixed!!!!! :D
