After 8 lost hours of frustration, I'm about to throw the firepod and the cubase LE CD in the trash.

I can NOT get cubase to allow me to activate more than 4 channels of the firepod...I have the crackling/popping issue described in the "rack" forum.

For this forum - how, in the name of sanity, do you get the thing to recognize all the inputs from the Firepod. I'm even using the Presonus template for the Firepod. When I go to VST inputs and try to click on 5/6; 7/8; or 9/10 it tells me that "Cubase LE can only support 4 inputs"

Help please,
Jay

Steinburg changed LE to only allow 4 inputs at once. I had the same problem as you. I had to borrow a friend's earlier version of LE to get it to allow 8 inputs. You'll have to upgrade the software. Its a bummer. Steinburg pissed me off with this.

Ryan.

wow that sucks. you would think they would package the software enabling you to use the full potential of the Firepod. thats a shady move there by Steinberg, it basically defeats the purpose of having 8 pres. my Cubase LE allows me to use all 8 so i guess it's the older version.

If that's true...

Then it's fraud in advertising....both on Presonus' part and on Cubase's part....all it takes is a trip to either website.

Wow...

are you sure you didnt activate all your vst inputs?

I have a fire pod and cubase le and i got all 10 inputs working.

I tried

about 500 times...rebooting, reloading Cubase, reloading hardware....everything. When I try to click on any other VST input (to bring the total above 4 inputs), the programs says "Cubase LE supports 4 inputs" and won't let me select any more. If I deselect (for example) inputs 1/2, it will then let me select 5/6 (or 7/8, etc.)

Never more than 4.

This is my frustration....I know it's possible, people all over this site and all the review sites seem to have no issues.

I have a prob with firepod and cubase too

Im useing Cubase Sx and i havent messed with my firepod much but i can only get it to record on two channels due only being able to record one left and one right....But i know i have to go into the program and do somethig with VST but i have no clue what it is ..somene toled me that its in the manual but i dont know if there talking about a firepod or a cubase Sx manual and the cubase one is to long to fined it and the firepod is to short to have anything in it...so can someone tell me step by step how to get all 8 channels recording....thanks alot!

Have you guys checked the FAQ at the Presonus site?
http://www.presonus.com/firepodfaqs.html

Sounds like you *might* have already followed the procedure correctly, but I'm not sure and thought I'd throw the above link in the mix here. I'd guess that the Cubase LE shipping with the Firepod would NOT be limited in the ways being decribed here. Sure, it could be a possibility, but there would be a LOT of complaints flooding Presonus on this one. I'm most certainly not saying your lying either...just offering some input.

i've got Cubase LE and a Firepod, i get 10 channels, the 8 mono and then the spdif inputs.

According to Jonathan at Presonus tech support

The new version (shipping) of LE that comes with the Firepod is limited to only 4 inputs.

So start the complaints...I have. It is absurd that a unit with 10 inputs (and advertised as such) ships with software that can only handle 4 simultaneous inputs.

Jonathan has been really cool with me...he's actually sending me an older version of LE in order to let me use the simultaneous recording features of the product; however, Presonus needs to change bundled software to something that supports the bottom line features of their product. If I only wanted 4 simultaneous inputs, I would have spent 300 less and bought a Firebox.
