Hey,
The band I am in is trying to decide whether to record our next album in a "real" studio, or whether to do it ourselves. We recorded a demo on the weekend and we are trying to see how good we can get it to sound... We think we are close enough to the sound we want that we would rather spend the money that it would take to go to a studio and just buy better gear to do it ourselves. We have a bunch of condensors, a few sets of drum mics, about 10 SM57s, and we track it all through a Roland VS something and then mix it in Logic. In this mix, the vocals haven't been added but we are just looking for general feedback on the sound. Obviously going to a studio would have its own benefits... but this is purely from a quality sound standpoint. Suggestions, comments, & feedback would be sweet!
Thanks
