Well, while it's here

While this is sitting near the top of the page, I'd just like to say that "HI HO STEREO" has been on maximum rotation in my house for the past 3 days. I shudder to think what you could do with a recording that WASN'T homemade.

-Makes me wanna' get a LOT better.

very inventive stuff.
hesitant to critique the sound...being zipped and all. ..but will say it has a raw, trebly, sibilant kinda sound on the negative side. On the positive, it is nice and clean, and a good stereo field.

I think some "smoothing filters" (do we have those?) would help to mellow things out a bit. Inovative autotune use. A+ for that.

this is either good...or bad. The ac gtrs and such are very upfront sounding, and "in your face" kinda ....which gives nice presence and all..but also then lacks any acoustical space feeling too. I did hear some noise reduction stuff on the fade out of HiHostero...

thanks for comments and ideas

a modified dog: the guitar is yamaha dw-10

chrisharris: it is great to hear that someone is actually listening to the music just for the sake of listening to the music. it's a very satisfying compliment.

mixmkr: i don;t think i have smoothing filters... what are smoothing filters, by the way? you mention some flaws that have been bothering me as i listen to the song in review. i notice that the guitars become a bit irritating after extended listening. in regards to you first comment; does zipping the song affect the sound quality too?

thanks.

Killer. It has a nice "tape" analog sound to me. I really like this one Good recording and very original (and it's easy to dance to. I give it a 73). Excellent.

They have a very "glassy", bridge-pickup tone, but I thought that's what you were going for  They seem mixed ok.

There's not much I can say about the mix, except that it sounds quite fine to me.

The word that popped into my head when listening to this is ORIGINALITY. This is not a clone of someone else's stuff, and you should be very proud of that.

My wife and I have been walking around singing "Ho-Ho my stereo......ohwoh.......the last couple of days. That's really a first rate tune. Is the mix perfect? No...........but who cares? It's such a good tune that I just want to hear it again and again.

shackrock: i'm not sure if there are different kinds of auto-tune plugins, but when it loads it says "Antares Auto-Tune 3." somebody gave it to me, so i don't really know much about it.

participant: to be honest, i've yet to develop any amount of engineering foresight. the resultant sounds are mostly accidental, or are experiments based on info from this board -- an invaluable resource as so many have named it before me.

thanks for the delightful comments recently posted

Hey cat-eggs.........I was listening to Beta-Blocker and my wife came in and said, "What song is that?" Well before you know it I threw hot poisons in her eyes. We laughed and laughed. :)

lt. bob: you've stumbled across my little niche in the world wide web. don't fall in.

Damn, my favorite one tonight. Fantastic levels and mix. Don't change anything. Love that stereo guitar. Background vocals are great. Nice fade at end. Loved it.

I just have to tell you, my wife also loves the tune.

LOL.. that is sooo me... :D Translation: "I really don't know what I'm doing, so I just screw with it until it sounds right" :p That's pretty much how I do it... :) now if I could only make tunes as cool as yours...

This is some nifty stuff... I, for one, thought the mixes were great... loved the guitar sound... thought the vocals were nice and clear... there was a little "hiss" on the main vox. (on Hi Ho) but that's the only thing I would point out.

You've got a little "Our Lady Peace" sound goin' on... :p

and LOL.. love the vocal "bridge" on Hi Ho... that's some groovy stuff.

good songs and catchy words. sounds good on my end. I didn't like going though the zip stuff but I managed. I got plenty of 33's so I won't have to leave my room either.

I meant to tell you, MP3 is a compressed format, with the quality of being played without having to decompress first. Supposedly, the mp3 format allows little or no losses. So, using the zip format is redundant, and possibly could mess up your music file.

thanks for info... the only reason i zip the songs is because tripod does not allow mp3 file on their servers. plan to trasport files to nowhere radio.
