One of these days, when i get done with commenting on this, I will fix erics drums and submit version 4, but there are a number of things i wish to reply to and some i just won't have time to cover, but here goes. (can this guy write a run on sentence or what!)
B. Sabbath--I missed something a while back. You said "picture how Blue Bear might have worded it." He may be blunt

, but I think he would have nailed the timing issue as recording problem. He would not have made a personal attack on the player. There IS a difference--and Blue doesn't show his fangs unless he's really provoked! My opinion.
Mixmkr--yes, it all comes down to ears! Unfortunately mine wer preoccupied on other aspects of the mix, so i gotta go back. "Honest, officer, my speedometer said 50 mph!"
And I don't impose a code of conduct on Christians, believe me. I do expect to come in here and treat others with some respect. While I would like that in return, I can't expect it--especially with the nature of the internet, as you mentioned.
I don't want it to be a clique here either. It works best as an open forum. If people are intimidated by a "regular" member group, that ruins it. And, I agree that the MP3 forum is the heart of the BBS, at least potentially. Potentially, because there are loads of folks who discuss microphones and preamps and rack this and that who never post one scrap of sonic evidence in the MP3 forum. I'd like to see Mr. Hyatt (for example) post an MP3 of his mic pre comparisons or a session with the C3 or something, ya know. Thats part of what the MP3 clinic is for. I'll have to ask him, I guess, eh?
Bong Bros Inc--I do NOT wish to start another debate. OK? I just found it hilariously ironic that I post a song which is anti-drug in nature and the thread ends up discussing the best bongs and weed! My cryptic lyric refers to a number of routes I explored in trying to find spiritual release and serenity, including drugs, self proclaimed "religions" and finally, coming to the conclusion that I should look to my own soul for all I need. I neither judge nor condemn what anybody else does 'cause we are all different. I did find it wryly humorous though! (Another thread: best dope stories. Note; for the cave someday)
Jeap/Kramer--what we are trying to do with the collabs is NOT impossible, but there are still some things to explore. I think the file start of 1/1/000 is a key. Now, if you add a plug in that causes some latency (gee, I think I have been there), then it changes the automatic-ness of it all. Thats where ears DO come into play, like Mxmkr says.
Flash--Its guys like you who feed my soul and make this all worthwhile. i sincerely mean that, and thank you for listening! yeah, we do get the blues sometimes and the music really helps!
Theron--and you, my friend, I am learning--are a true brother in spirit. You have my respect to the heavens. And its not becasue you love the tune--its because you are real and honest. Thank you none the less.
drstawl--that mini CD idea is a GREAT one! i've never tried to burn one, but I suppose its the same as burning a regular sized one. Also, I hear you about eric--he's a minimalist of sorts. He did one track and I said I need more fills--more flash! He added some of that, but I think he believes on the groove. Speaking of eric, I gotta e-mail him. He's been conspicuous by his absence and I hope he will forgive me for my errors.
chris harris--how in the world do I reply to all you've said? You are too damn funny! Your post had me laughing and feeling good. See, that's why we need you here--even if you are me or jamal or whoever in disguise! I'll send you an e-mail answering your questions, etc.
fenderlickingood-Thanks for the comments and I am glad you enjoyed the tune. I swear on my heart that I'll get a final flawless version of this up--no matter how many years it takes.
Last thought: This is what is really hard for me in mixing--switching from the microscopic view (how's the balance/tone of the snare, guitar, bass, etc) to the sub mix view: are the kick and bass working together, is the register of the piano/guitar combo giving each other space--is the vocal intelligible at every point. Finally to the overall view--Does the mix sound great? Is everything working as a whole? Is thelow/mid/high balance proportional? is there enough compression/ too much? Are the effects "right" for the intended space? ETC ETC ETC!
Its a balancing act in perception and being able to shift modes of perception. I think the big time mixers have a routine, just like Tiger Woods has when he makes a putt. I'm getting there, but I still have some areas to address. This whole thread has helped me a lot. My sincere thanks to all of you--especially Lt. Bob and Erichenryus. V4 is next...
