>>I think he was just frustrated because the problem has to do with the syncing process and can be fixed. Once it is I believe it will be a moment of learning for us all when we see this facet of dealing with collabs come to light. I don't think those of us that haven't dealt with this long-range collaboration and syncing process really quite understand what's involved.
>>This sync issue is the exact reason why I don't like to collaborate that way.. I know it's a slight error, but I had the exact same problem when I tried it.. 320 mp3 for me please..
Not sure this will help anyone here. I've enjoyed doing quite a few online collaborations. It seems MP3 isn't the prefered way to exchange sound files, because by nature it inserts a slight delay into the file ahead of the music, and that stays when it's converted back to wav. Much more difficult to sync.
Most of the places that specialize in collaborations, use WMA files just for this reason. If broadband is available to all the parties, then Monkey Audio files, called .APE are used. (they are kinda large, but VERY high quality results. Once uncompressed with the monkey audio decoder, they are almost exactly the same as the original track (16 bit only, but is good enough for most collabs) High quality WMA files work pretty well though, and is more reliable than MP3 for timing, according to people who have studied the differences.
I know of an article on the MP3 issues, if anyone wants to read it, I can probably dig up a link to it.
Great job guys. Awesome song! Sorry for getting OT.
