Man, I don't know much about mixin' and stuff, but I think I know something about vocals, and you're WAAAAY too tough on yourself.

Nice fucking job, and I know this is not the easiest tune in the world to sing at all.

Ease up on yourself. The vocal's very cool. The End.

allrighty man...... You ask for honesty, you certainly deserve it.

.......In the other thread I mentioned the work involved in getting tight vocs down.
.....you didnt do the work in this song.
Your tone is great, the way that you recorded the vocs is great......... but you didnt get em tight. In "soulless mate" you did the work. Razor sharp vocs.... completely tight and in key. .....this sounds like you flew through it. I didnt feel it was necessary to tell you that because I know that you know........ but If youre gonna break my balls for not breaking yours......... here comes a hammer:D :D .....So do the right thing, and shut me the fuck up. .......Record 'em again........ Razor sharp...... with no nasal schnitzel this time:D

.....you know im playing w/ you .............I dig this song.
........and i aint fluffin ya about that

G

Very interesting cover to chose and creatively executed. I can just barely hear that cold effect on your voice, but it's not at all distracting. I know now not to pay any attention to the comments of your initial post, you have yet to disappoint me. Great job as usual! :D

Sabb, I'm truly playa' hatin' on you rite about now!!!
That was tite! Don't know if it's either my headphones or the beer I've been drinking, but I woulda' luv'd to hear your voc's more out in front and mo' presence on the bass, but that's minor!
Great work U b@stard!!!:p

I never heard the original, but I like this a lot. You really have a good voice.(mine sucks) The drums were buried in a few places. Mainly when the rhythm guitars were heavy. I didnt much care for the magical mystery tour out of nowhere guitars, I think they were guitar, keys?
The change was wicked. I like that kinda shit. some good guitar playin also, with good tones in both rhythm and solos. I enjoyed listening to this song. Good work.

Hey! Where'd it go!? I never got a chance to actually hear it. Damn...

Hi B.Sabbath,

I don't know what happened to the track, it's not on the list by now.
Anyway, from what I remember it sounded just great. The vocal was actually very precise and convincing.
I don't know anything about Seal, so I can't tell if it adds anything to the original, but it just sounds like a great song. Nice tempo changes and interesting arrangement.

I like the simplicity of the drums a lot. Pure simple drums along with a tambourine is heard many times, but it's almost always very rhythmical and sexy :) . Sometimes less is more and that's definitely the case here, if you ask me.
I hope you don't change to much, if you intend to replace it with real drums.

I didn't read any of the other comments before typing, so I hope there's not to much redundance.

the song has been vaporized..

JR#97 - the reason I did this was not only because I love the original, but I wanted a few tunes that I could play for a girl and not have her be frightened.. :D all my other crap is too freaky, so I thought this would help my plight.. but it didn't.. :(

mixmkr - hey mix... I took it off Nowhere.. I shouldn't have attempted the vocals while being so nasal.. I am starting to feel bad about my vocals again and I am toying with the idea of going all instrumental.. who knows..

Fed - thanks Fed! :D It's not a real tambourine, but I always wanted a tambourine in a song.. It just seemed to sound right for this.. the original is a great.. this is just a hack job.. :o

chris harris - yeah I already took it off nowhere.. I think some people are being too nice and not letting me have it.. I don't like that at all.. I know it sucks, and some people here agree.. even the coward you gave me 1 star and didn't comment.. :D your voice is good.. I may try again or just go completely instrumental.. who knows..

Guernica - glad we got that settled.. :D Seriously man, I need to know I will get the truth from people like you.. there is no point otherwise.. If you put up something that sucks, I will tell you.. even though I know that will probably never happen.. thanks G, your comments mean something to me..

Barometer - repeat after me, "Sam, this is the worst thing you have ever put up." :D thanks for dropping a comment B!

MISTERQCUE - your absolutely right about the bass.. I took the easy way out on this one.. I took it off NWR and I might re-sing it and probably try to do something about that bass.. thanks a lot man! New York in the House!! :D (when are we going to hear some Q jammies?) I am dying to hear the man..

Myx62 - thanks man.. I hated the vocals so I took it off Nowhere.. I may redo them.. I see you have a new tune up, so I'll be checking it out in a few minutes..

Stratomaster - it was pretty bad dude.. thanks for trying though.. I might repost it if I can get it to sound better..

Cranky One -I'm glad you missed this one.. you would have destroyed it! :D thanks for the attempt though..

Erik O. - thanks a lot man.. I took it off NWR because the vocals were just too bad.. I may give it another shot.. I'll probably leave the drums though.. this was the first time I ever found room for a tambourine.. I really dug your last tune, so thanks for checking this out..

A1A2 - the guitar setup went like this, e-flat guitar, Boss PS-5 pitch shifter, Boss AW-3 Dynamic Wah.. I did one guitar through a Sansamp, into a Blue Max compressor, then into a BBE sonic maximizer.. I doubled it with a J-Station, into the blue max, into the BBE.. The beginning clean intro was a Pod Pro into the B.M. into the BBE..
[/B]

Wow, that's quite a chain~
now, what does it do exactually when you tune down your guitar then pitch shift it back?

Thanks for sharing your setup

dude! it did not suck! it kicked ass! put it back up and send some chicks to it and then you're set! seriously, man. My wife loved it and she's the pickiest and most critical chick I've ever met....

......Im glad this got bumped. I hope you are planning to put this back up man. Youre cheating alot of folks out of a great song otherwise. ...this remake is "that" good man...(and there is no fluff in that statement). Fortunately for me, I downloaded it...... :p :D :)

Mike

btw: my wife listened to it as well. .....and being a huge Seal fan, but not so hot on the heavier stuff....... ....she really dug your interpretation.

Awww... come on. I actually liked the original version, so it would be very interesting to hear your take on it. Puh-leeeeeeeze... :D I'm not in a destructive mood anyway.

too funny..

I'm going to resing it and add a few things.. maybe in a week or so I'll post it again.. thanks for the motivation guys! :D

and Guernica, 'you better erase that version now!!'

LOL! :D

awright, sam...

...yeah... the vox did waver in and out of key a few times, but who in the f*dge sings when sick?! Just a man who's highly dedicated to music

Yeah, vocs just sounded a bit "relaxed"... like your concentration was off a bit... that outro (2:33-->) was some serious BIZZ-NIZZ. Signature-Sam, all the way... that made the song, imhop. Something good about the vocs? Reminded me of Steven Tyler when you sang the phrase "the door"... like that line "picture graced the frame in the door" in "Dude Looks like a Lady" :) On these lousy speakrs I'm guessing the main mix issue is the separation between snare/bass/guits....

Something else about vocs... if you're not feeling good, you cant put any nuts into it... in my limited vocal experience, when I don't sing like I freakin' mean it, the vocs sound that way... It would really work better with some ballz-out vox.

You have an awesome voice when you put the efforts there, so don't puss out on all your fans  ;) Your toonz wouldn't be the same without that aggresive singing you do so well. Chin up, man :)

and Guernica, 'you better erase that version now!!

......I'll erase it when you put up the version thats gonna replace it:p :)

btw: ...you had better change that avatar before people start thinking that you condone shempin the hemp :D

thanks chadij! yeah your right about everything you mentioned as usual.. I was hoping this thread would not be here today, but alas, I appreciate the word dude.. :D I'm waiting until my nasalness goes away and then I'll give this another shot.. I'll keep in mind the stuff you mentoned when I remix and resing.. your tune had nice seperation.. I think one of the main reasons why I have these mix problems is because I dont have the drums on seperate tracks.. everything is printed as I go so I cant e.q. the snare differently from the bass drum etc.. I am getting heavier handed with my parametric e.q. so maybe there will be some improvement in the future.. thanks again man.. I have been playing your tune for everyone who comes by.. :D I downloaded it so thats why it doesnt show up on the stats.. It instantly became one of my all time clinic favorites.. :)

Guernica - you wait man!! :D One day I will have my revenge... from now on I will download your songs before I even listen to them just in case of a similar situation.. :D You suck! It bothers me to know those vocals are out there! :p bastard!!

hey guys, let this thread die because I took the song off Nowhere and I'm almost finished with something else and I'll probably post it tomorrow or the next day.. :D

thanks again buds!

and Guernica, speaking of buds, I hope you like the new avatar.. it's green. :D
