Not a singer but I can ay that you chose a very very challenging song to tackle. Not sure your motivation to sing a Mariah song, but not a good place to start for many reasons.
My suggestion would be to start with some pop that is very simple clean and you can get a good hold of pitch-wise and it might allow you to open up and be more natural too. I would just start building from the most simple repertoire and eventually u might revisit the Mariah thing, or u might come to the realization that you may never want to touch that. Start and move with songs you can feel much more comfortable with rhythmically and tonally.
I haven;t worked with a ton but of the vocalists I have worked with, all school trained, few female vocalists would attempt to cover a song like that, unless it was totally touching on their absolute strengths as a singer. Few have the control and pipes.
Good luck on your journey!
