I am wondering which would be the best method to take. Use my Art MP or get a used Countryman DI 85 for direct recording for bass guitar? The Art sounds pretty good but would the Countryman sound better?

The Countryman DI sounds great on bass, whether it would sound better than an art MP depends on the song and the bass guitar.
If you have the MP already and you can get a Countryman cheap, why not get it.

Countryman is always worth getting. I think if you do you'd prefer it most times.

Sorry to butt in...

Who carries the Countryman DI? Musician friend used to carry it, but I dont see it anymore.

Pretty good DI huh? Might have to check it out. Class A, it says, for cheap. Scary.

Yes I have a SansAmp Bass Driver DI, but I can't use it with my DeArmond. I bought it for my passive Fender bass, but the DeArmond has Actives in it. I tried it with the Actives and it
sounded horribly dredful.

hum...
i have a Ibanez SR400 Bass with active pickups and no problem.

I've had decent results with my MP but I would recommend my Hughes and Kettner Red Box over the MP any day. It just tends to sound better in most situations. And I got it dirt cheap which is always a plus.
