I need to archive and restore a huge amount of material (16 tracks X 4 hours each week) recorded on the VF160. Is there an economical archive medium for this recorder?

I don't want to buy a library of IDE or SCSI hard drives. Can a SCSI tape drive be connected? Maybe something using the ADAT port?

Any suggestion are appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I'd definetly get an new HD when the one in the machine fills up. The amout of data is so huge that it'll take dozens of CDs (30 CDs to back up 20GB drive) to back up one HD's contents. Just think about the time it would take to write those 30 CDs each week and after 3 months you'll have 360 CDs in your hands instead of just 6 40GB HDs.

How do you manage to record 4 hours of 16 track every week ???!!!! Is that some kind of a record ???

For the amount of data you are talking, and with the ridiculous price of IDE hard drives theses days, economically you're best bet would indeed be a library of hard drives.
