The VOICE
I have fairly simple set-up with a Yamaha AW-2400 DAW (all of my recording and mixing is done there). My AW2400 lets me export individual tracks in .wav format via a USB port to my Mac. I want to do this on occasion, to edit tracks and apply effects in GarageBand, then export the file back to the AW2400 for mixing.

My problem is that GarageBand exports in .aif file format instead of .wav (the AW2400 can't read .aif). I've tried the old "import into iTunes and use the iTunes .wav converter" trick, but I just end up with another .aif file (maybe I'm doing something wrong).

Does anyone know of an easy way to convert .aif files into .wav format so that I can import tracks back to my DAW? Any assistance is greatly appreciated!!

I believe you could open the .aif files in Audacity or some other free audio editor and export them as waves from there.

Have you tried googling for "aif to wav converter"?

Yeah - got a bunch of results wanting to sell me software converters for $20. I couldnt' find a freeware converter program, so was hoping someone here might have software they could recommend.

I hadn't thought of Audacity; thanks.
