Controller Lanes?? Can't get Expression etc to do anything.

I really want some of my long Midi string and Brass parts to have expression in them whereby i can pull the volume up or down within the space of a note. I've read that I should be able to do this with the CC11 Expression lane - i draw it in but there is no difference in sound no matter how dramatic i make it. Is there something i am missing????

(I don't want to have to do it via automation on the track itself if i can help it)

The only ones i can get to work are pan, volume and pitch bend.

It depends on the VSTi. What one are you using? Or hardware synth whatever.

Because if you are drawing in data into the expression lane and it's not doing anything, then it doesn't do anything.

Fed through NI's Session Strings sounds like so:

Feed it though Halion one though and that same midi does nothing with the expression data. It just comes out flat volume.

Aah ok yes, i'm using Halion One. I had thought that maybe the facility just didn't exist in the softsynth but i was hoping it was just me doing something wrong. Oh well.... back to the faders then.
