Hi, im very new at this, my question is, How do I connect my keyboard, mic, and even my track recorder to my mixer?, whats the name of the cord/cable im supposed to use?, hope someone can help me, thanks
that would really help. You can also use the search engine and see what other people are doing with the same gear you have.
Generally you want a high quality cable though, regardless of the specific connectors you need, because cheap cables make for cheap sounding recordings most of the time.
well i have a Tascam Porta 03 MK II 4 Track Recorder , and a Eurorackmx2642a mixer, what cable do i need to connect each other, and what happens if my keyboard doent have any input, can i use the "phones" output to conect to the mixer,
if the only output your keyboard has is headphones and midi, then yes - you are stuck using the headphone out. I would highly recommend getting the best cable you can though -- go to a audiophile store like Tweeters.
You'd hook you keyboard into the mixer. Again if the only audio output is headphone use that, and get a splitter so you can send the left and right channels to different inputs on your mixer.
Your recorder probably has RCA input/output? I looked as Tascam but didn't see a good picture. Most mixers have RCA jacks for tape-in and tape-out but looking at the manual for yours it looks like it uses balanced 1/4" jacks? You can always put an RCA-1/4" connector in there but I try to avoid that and use a cable made for the purpose. Here's what you really ought to do:
Go grab the manuals for your hardware.
Go get a pencil and pad of paper.
Write down what types of I/O you are looking at (I'll assume here, so bear with me) such as:
Keyboard - output is 1/8" stereo headphone jack
Mixer - input is 1/4" balanced jack, output is 1/4" balanced jack
Recorder - input is analog RCA, output is analog RCA
Then, with this all in front of you, start shopping for cables online. You should be able to find what you need with a little patience. If you still need help though post "the list" of input/output for us for more specific help.
