so this is my first recording posted on this forum since ive gotten all my gear.
ive only been recording on computer for about 1 month (but ive used a zoom mrs 1044 multitrack in the past)

drums were recorded at a mates studio on a tascam 1804 with cubase sx3 and 11 various mics...

and guitars are only rough preprodution using a vamp2 and presonus firebox and cubase sx2...just to get an idea of what the band is aiming for plus to save me time when i mic up the cabs next week.

nehow....comments please as this is my first attempt for my drummers younger brothers "hardcore" band.its only rythm guitars(no leads or layers yet) and drums...plus no mixing has been done as yet

cheers

Pretty good for a "younger brother" band.... Can't wait to hear it post-mix.. I would love to hear a lil more high end on the snare, kick and guitar.... Maybe tone down some low-mid on the guitar and bring the drums up into that spot.. Cool stuff man... May I ask how old the band people are? Also, do they plan on any vocals?

well its a snoozefest of a song except for sometimes the drummer surprises me with a high hat roll or something. it was tough getting through the 128kbps compression but the drums sounded pretty nice, although the guitars make them sound dim because they're DId

yeah the drummer is only 15yrs old and the rest of the band i think are 19-21yrs.they are my guinea pigs, as my band has just finished recording and im tired of recording myself.theyre doing a split EP with another band from another state so im recording 5 songs from them...the one i posted is probably the tightest in terms of playing...even thou its still messy...but when i record them properly next week i plan on being really an#l about takes.

My main focus is on recording the guitars at the momment and I think the Vamp2 is really cool for stuff like preproduction , the guys were really really impressed with the tone so i cant wait to see their faces when they hear the amps miced up next week haha
i have a nice selection of amps to shoot out (5150, 2x 5150mkII, Marshall JCM2000 TSL100, Framus Cobra and H&K Kettner mkI) plus mesa boogie recto slant cab and Marshall Mode4 cab and AX Cab... my house looks like a music store mwahahah.
im only going to be using one sm57 (which ill probably need some help in micing up as i have minimal experience) and do multiple takes. any hints and tips?

then il be recording the bass and vocals(which im lookign forward to doing the most) the singer has the most brutal low scream/shout...and the bassist has a nice singing voice

haha "snoozecore"...
in their defence...the recording is missing a lot of layers as i was focusing mainly on the rythm guitars ...im thinking of using a line6 spider 2 for recording the lead and layers/effects.i only just realised that i can upload up to 16mb!!! oops sorry...when i get a the amps miced and recorded ill post it at better quality ...im also learning how to use this forum hahaha.

cheers for all the feedback...muchly appreciated.keep em coming.
