I like it Timothy! To my ears, it sounds perfect. I hope to get such quality on my recordings someday! Walter

Is it here allowed to post covers of protected songs?
No, but some of us play fast and loose at times with the "fair use" provision of the copyright law.

BTW, nice job, Tim! :)

Dogman – very cool vocal you did. I agree w/Sonixx… sultry and mysterious.

NL5 – thanks… I’m working on the lowmid thing… one of the three gtrs I used is the culprit there and the thickening-beyond-all-reason I did to it in the mix, heh-heh. :D

Hi Rokket, glad you liked the tune. :)

johnnybegabyte – Thanks. Actually I have a large repertoire of Beatles arrangements and have been thinking for a while of doing an album of them. Big plans... no time to do them... you know the story :D

pablovschby – Since this forum is essentially a co-op educational forum rather than a distribution channel, people do occasionally post covers here for mixing critique. Different thing entirely to do commercial distribution… and in that case a mechanical license would be the correct route.

Hi apl. Thanks for jumping in.

Monkey Allen, rpe, variaxman, MadAudio, – glad you liked it. Thanks for commenting.

Walter – thanks! Your stuff is very high quality, don’t think there’s anything lacking there.

Supercreep – The lead lines were kind of an afterthought… and I was a little surprised they worked! Thanks.

Don – Thanks for the listen Don. Now if I can only get Kafer to play drums on this… ;)

Tim

Tim, I don't want to sound redundant, but you give me no choice here :p your playing is excellent! I've heard this a few times the last few days and actually woke up this morning with it in my head ;)

Dogman, classic! Very cool version. Sooooooo mysterious. The mysterious dog.

Amoeba – How do you know about Kafer if you joined a month ago? Oh… “amoeba”… I get it.

Apl – heh-heh, can you direct me to a good freeware vibraslap plugin? :D Bet Llarion wants one too.

SnakeDog – thanks for listening and the kind words.

I'm sure some kind percussive HomeReccer can set you up with a sample. I did a quick google but didn't find one.

Very nice work Tim. It's diffurent and i like that. i love the way everything flows around lol. The Beatles inspired me to start playin music and i still think they are one of the main foundations for todays music and style. I did a cover of this same song about 3 or 4 years ago (some of yall might remember that) lol. Good work.

Hell, I didn't actually know what it was until I googled it. :D

That's cool. They're timeless I think. And they had so much variety in their style...

Thanks for all the mix opinions and suggestions in the thread… I've almost got a remix done, if my head doesn't explode from trying all the different options. I don't know how you guys mix dozens of tracks and keep your sanity... this is just 5 unamplified gtrs.

Tim

Tim, you're welcome. :)

I mean to me Beatles sound like a bunch of guys singing pop music.

WOAH. NO. UH UHHHHH.

You reallllly need to listen to at least Sgt. Pepper's. Once you starting getting into all of their albums.. you start to realize just how many of their songs you know. It's ridiculous.

Trust me, man. It's worth it. Even for just the engineering end of it. Keep it mind that Sgt. Pepper's was recorded on a FOUR TRACK. There's just SO much going on it's really hard to believe.

Tim- Great work. I enjoyed it.

Tim

Nah, got one in my Proteus, one in my V-drums, and one in my DR-660... :)

SnakeDog… hey, got my first dolphin pic! “Flipper…. Flipper… is Timmy in trouble?... You want me to follow you?" … er… no, wait… that would be Lassie. Got my classic TV reruns mixed up. :D Well, Flipper was Beatles-era TV anyway, so it fits the topic. :D

Geet73… well put about the Beatles. And beyond the great compositions, I think that their mid and later recordings have some of the best arranging I’ve ever heard.

Llarion… yeah, yeah, yeah, I was just kidding… figured you were already vibra-slap enabled. :p

Hope you like this one, I had to go to space for it.

Updated Mix

I remixed, trying to reduce the lowmid over-emphasis without making it sound thin. Am I going in the right direction?

Come Together Remixed

Sounds better to me but I suspect ear fatigue is affecting my judgement.

If anybody wants to take a shot at mixing the tracks let me know and I'll put them up. I'm sure most of our resident mixers could whip up a better mix of these 5 tracks than I have.

And SnakeDog, you're the man!

Tim

I'm still working on my mixing skills but this sounds pretty good to me.

Something on the right soloing guitar at around :20, :25 and 2:16 that sounds "dirty" on the lowest notes. It may be pre-amp induced not sure.....if it is ok - I'll call it bite..... :D

Great mix overall too ......

Think I'll just loop this for a while and enjoy the phenomenal playing.....
