I really like Trower's style & sound - you've nabbed that pretty well - I can't help listening closely for him on Procul tracks.
True - your singing is an excellent foil for the guitar.
I can't hear the distortion but my ears are rather like an Elvis sandwich - deep fried.
I enjoyed this & will now go off to listen to some Trower as the tone is in m'ead.

Heck yea, trower rocks, and so you do you guys, GREAT COVER!

Sounds awesome kids, leaves me wanting more. True, kick ass on the vox there mama! Very inspiring. El, great job on the playing.

My comments on the mix are the same, the vox jump out a little at times and that cymbal sound gets a little distracting.

I hate to say it, but I don't think the tone is quite there. The distortion is pretty "new metal" ish and it sounds more like chorus occilation than that juicy vibe sound he gets. Sorry, I know allot of ppl here are loving it, I'm just a bit of a tone snob I guess.:o You're playing probably captures trower much more than the average player though, excellent job on the chops.

Aewsome cover tune!

Great job on guitars EL and yet another great vocal performance by True.

:cool::)

Naka ~rayc ~space ~60's ~JPW

Thanks to ALL of you very much, for taking the time to listen and comment on the song.

Hey ray...your description of "foil for the guitar" made me giggle.:D

There is no way, I could capture Dewar with my vocals and knew it...so opted to just do me...I am however, sure he turned over in his grave.....:D

Do you have a version of the song without the canned drums or maybe just a click?

If not, no biggie... I should be able to put something together....

:)

Yeah, that would be cool.
I am not at my shop right now but I can dump a mix out with no drums if you want and then post the link?

I have never heard the original so all I can say is that this would sound great with the "Rabbit" drumming. Nice performances by True and EL34. I would like to hear less reverb on True's vocals and maybe a boost in the lows. The guitar playing is sweet and need to listen on my monitors to get a better idea of the whole mix. Very soulful all round! :)

Thanx for sharing guys, I look forward to hearing the tune with that wild rabbit on the skins! :)

I think I'll have a little time today to tinker... If you could post a link, that would help! :) If not, I should be able to block out the existing drums a bit...

:)

I'm listening to the original version for the first time myself... I'm wondering if Roy Thomas Baker produced the ride cymbal track? That's some serious phase shifting...

:D

Wow guys (and girls/sharks) sweet all around.
The verby feel to the tune and the guitar tones are cool and mysterious.
So much emotion in the vox too, love it.
Maybe it's my headphones, but the snare seems to lean on the right side a bit.
Awesome listen, had to listen twice :D

I'm uploading 10 tracks of zipped waves now... I PM'd you the link...

Nine tracks of drums and the scratch for synch purposes...

I threw it together during halftime of the Seahawks game and now I have to get ready to play tonight... I think it should work... Hard to gauge the feel with the canned drums in there too...

Let me know if you would rather have a mixed down version instead, or if you need me to re-track...

:)

Thanks, can you just give me a single wav file with all the drums?

Thanks,
I'll see what you did and see what I can come up with.

I had zero luck trying to mix all your individual drums tracks into something that sounded good.
I'm never around real drums and so I am in the dark as far as to how each one should sound in real life.

I noticed on all the individual tracks that there was a ton of bleed from one drum/cymbal onto the other tracks and so EQ'ing each track was not working well.
I suppose that's the way it is when you record a real kit. :D

Noise gates are a Drummer/Home Rec'ers best friend

:D

OK, here's the tune with True on vocals and BentRabbit on the skins.

Wow you're fast :D

Almost sounds like the drum track at the beginning is just a hair ahead of the other tracks.... But then it seems to synch up towards the middle...

Edit: On closer listening it sounds like the drums are just a little ahead of the other tracks all the way through... Maybe slide em back a little and see what happens?

Is that the canned drums causing the slight delay effect with the drums?

The drums and vox sound like they are pretty much sitting well with each other in the mix...but the drums are stepping on the guitars. In other words, it sounds like the vocal and drums are mixed together but the guitars are somewhat on the outside looking in...does that make any sense? BuT...I have never ever mixed in drums...

Rabbit...I love the tambourine in this!!!:D Awesome job on the drums and I love that soft splash?!!!
