Coated Ambassador as a resonant?

I made the stupid mistake of not researching a little before buying new heads. I ended up buying the Remo coated ambassador pack because I heard it was a solid pack to have and would produce a desirable sound for any kind of performance. Well... I wasn't exactly wrong, but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for.

I'm pretty sure what I was looking for was something like the Remo Pinstripes & Powerstroke. I *think* the 2-plys get rid of the high overtones that are produced kind of like moongels.

SO! The question: How would using a coated ambassador for the resonant head, and a Remo Pinstripe 2-Ply for the batter affect the overall sound?

Probably won't sound to bad, especially on the snare and smaller toms, although if the bottom head is too thick it might not allow the snare wires to vibrate as freely.

The larger toms on the other hand I have found that thin uncoated stuff like evans glass give me the big open sound I like, the thick stuff requires to much tension to vibrate well with the lower frequency on the floor toms.

just my .02
