When I record with a click track, I use a metronome. It is made of wood and sort of pyramid shaped. You wind it up on the side with a metal key and a metal rod swings back & forth like a pendulum creating a clicking sound. It has a metal weight that you can slide up or down to increase or decrease the speed of the swinging motion. It has a gauge on the face of indicating Presto, Allegro, etc. all the way to Largo. It seems to work well although it needs to be wound up every once in a while or it stops.
