Hi!

There are some set-offers on ebay and some shops.

Nady, T-bone, behringer.....

I´m searching for a set of mics for demo issues - nothing special just Homerecording!

Any sugestions?

Cheers, Pepper

from what ive been readin on these board it seems that behringer are a decent brand and nadys are ok for the cheap price but not as good. dont know about the others

Don't do it! Bang for buck is better served by buying the mics individually. Used SM57 on snare, AT Pro25 on kick, and a pair of MXL 603's as overheads.-Richie

I'm with Richard.

Don't do it.

I'll give you a couple of Alternatives:

Kick Drum: ATM-Pro25 (Cardioid / Dynamic)
Snare: ATM-Pro25 or SM57 (Cardioid / Dynamic)
Overhead(s): Marshall MXL 603 (Wide Cardioid / Condensor)

Starting out, you really only need an overhead and a kick mic. buy one of each, and learn how to mic this way - BUT to use this overhead, you will need something with Phantom power to power it. But you can get a Phantom Power adapter.
There were thousands of records recorded with 2 microphones.

Keep it simple and learn the basic techniques first.

Tim and Richie are right, I have exactly the same setup. I´m glad I didn´t bought any of those brands (I mean Beh or Nady). I bought a PRO25 used, it works nice for me. Great budget mic. You can´t be wrong with a 57 even used. For the same price you could try a pair of MXL V69G, or the AUDIX I5 I now is a good one but more expensive tho.

I have to repeat what the others have said, because it bares the repeating.

Do NOT waste your time on junk mics for drums. A sm57 will ALWAYS be usful and is only about $80.
I have used crappy mics and the cant handle the high SPLsof the drums PLUS they sound really wimpy which is totally contradictory to the intent for drums.

You will never get your moneys worth out of those cheap mic kits for recording, although they CAN work allright for live use though a PA system.

Thanx All!

I see! Ok, I will check with ebay and try out the 2 mic-set + one snare!?

Snare must be also ok with the SM57 for recording? Or ist it really enough to do it with 2 mics? Ok ok, I´m quiet - i try it out!

Cheers, Pepper
