Cheap Headphones as Monitors

I use a really bad pair of headphones.I paid 5.99 for them and i figure if I can make music that sounds good on these then I 'll have something.I have a good pair also to see the difference after the mix.It works for me cus I cant afford monitors.Just guess and check.

No, it's not really a good idea, as headphones are drastically different from speakers, and it's very hard to get a "reasonable" recreation of the audio out of headphones.

Unless, of course, you're making a binaural recording, which is designed for headphones. But I doubt that.

I have no choice right now.My only options are Surround sound speakers,really bad head phones,or decent headphones.When I get done mixing with them I listen to them on different systems,car,house speakers,tv through a playstation.The bad ones work out better for me.

well then, work with what you've got, save up and buy something better.

Use the surround speakers. Headphones will make EVERYTHING sound good, which is not good.

Rule number one in recording: If it sounds good, it is good.

That being said, I wouldn't recommend mixing with headphones, but if it's working for you, then where's the problem?

Well I think its more like if it sounds good thru everything AND headphones then it sounds good. But if it just sounds good on headphones then really its a crapshoot on how it sounds on other sources.
