Changing to Linux... Soundcard problems?

Hey, I'm converting to Linux as my main OS.
I have an Audiophile 2496, and was wondering if it will still operate?
The M-Audio website says the Audiophile 2496 works on Win and Mac, but it says nothing about Linux.

Was anyone in the same situation as me and were successful?

Will I have to keep Windows XP on a different partition of my harddrive for recording? (I wouldn't mind this, except for going back and forth)

You'll just have to do some research to find out whether someone has a Linux device driver for the particular device. Good luck!

When I had my 2496 I distinctly remember a penguin on the box.

Here is the driver page from maudio for the 2496 downloads

http://www.midiman.com/index.php?do=support.drivers. They use 3rd party drivers for Linux.

Check out http://ardour.org for a Linux DAW. They specificaly mention the maudio delta cards.

There seems to be a working Alsa driver for most of the MAudio cards.

I've had my Audiophile on a Linux Machine. I had to install a driver for it but it worked fine.
