my room that i'm trying to turn into a mixing/live room is 17' x 12' and on the longer end there's a kitchen that extends an extra five feet.

I'm at a loss as to where to put panels cause the doors are all pretty much in the corners :[

thoughts?

it's the 2 bedroom one. and it's the big living room

Lucky you, in a way. Leaving the doors open is in itself, a bass trap. Low end frequencies will not build up here like a solid corner. :D

But it's funny...even with a corner door left open, you can still find lots of bass in that corner.

I've got one spot that I'm trying to find a solution for.
I can't stick a trap vertically, 'cuz the door is there...and I can't hang a serious bass trap above, 'cuz there is not enough clearance between the door and ceiling for a thick bass trap.
I may hang a couple just outside of the door's arc...or maybe a portable trap on a stand...???

I have a corner door as well on the front side of my listening position. I notice a bit of bass buildup there as well, though not near as much as the opposite corner solid wall. I myself throw up temporary panels when I am actually mixing and making decisions in regards to the bottom end. I thought of making the door itself, a sandwich of rockwool on either side. Never got around to it. Not even sure how efficient it would be without actually straddling the corner.
