Just upgraded to XP, so I figured to move up to CoolEdit Pro 2. Got it all going... got my mic working, but all my old MP3's (stuff recorded on CEP) are really glitchy on playback.
One or more of my settings are off. Any advice?
This used to be the kind of thing that would make me crazy.
My mantra now is, 'FORUMS....FORUMS..."

I think you should describe what you mean by glitchy... Are there artifacts? If you could explain it further we could hopefully help. Have you tried loading these mp3s with a different player program, like winamp? Maybe when you upgraded you didn't back them up properly?

Also, what do you mean by "all my old MP3's (stuff recorded on CEP"? You mean wav files recorded in CEP that you then converted to MP3? What did you encode the MP3s with?

They're skipping, right? I ask that b/c I recently experienced the same thing when I upgraded to XP. I don't blame XP, I blame my computer...in fact, I'm getting a new machine this week because of it, lol.

????

Now it's running fine. I changed it to run compatible with Windows 98, and it still glitched (yeah... skipped), so I put it back to the ordinary settings. All of a sudden, it's seems ok.
Honestly, I'm scratching my head on this. I have no idea what is going on, but as long as it works, who cares.
Of course, it's gonna take a few days to see if it's really working.

Part 2:
It IS still running Windows 98 compatibility.... my bad. Doing that, and shutting everything else down (like antivirus) seems to have been the solution.
Whew!
