The Shizz
I started using Cool Edit Pro and I loved it, it did everything I wanted and was pretty easy to learn. The only problem was that I kept getting a distorted sound in the Multi- track view, kind of a little crackle and like the tracks would start to get out of sync. I tried every adjustment I could think of and nothing seemed to fix the problem.

I thought it must of been something wrong with some of my gear, but then I tried a demo of Sonar and it worked perfectly.

Any Ideas on why this might be happening?

Was the crackle when you start to play only? Are you sure that the tracks came out of sync only when you switch to the mulit-view.

No, the crackle was throughout playback. In the edit view the files seemed to play properly, but together in the multi-track they didn't.

Frustrating

I posted this same problem a month or two ago. It's very odd...with mine, I could hear the distortion, no matter what the meters at the bottom said in the multitrack view. But If I'd mix them down, they sounded FINE in the Edit view.

Turning down the MAIN volume in the multitrack view didn't help. The one thing I found that DID help was to drop the volume of each track by 3 or 4 db, then bump the main volume up by the same amount. I have no idea why, but this fixes the problem for me.

Good Luck,
Chris

yeah it happened something similar to me, I think, sometime in playback in the middle of the song i begin listening to a track wasn't supposed to start there!!! very strange...

maybe a bug in processing temporary files...?
