I use CDRWs a lot. I bought a new brand last week - Memorex - and the speed of the disks matches the speed of my burner, but I'm having problems with the formatting of the disks. The first three formatted okay, but the next two are giving me problems - the format starts okay, then stops, maybe after a few minutes, maybe longer, but it never gets to the end of the disk.

Anybody recognize this one?

No idea dobro. Maybe they are defective.

Why use cd-rw's anyway? They take forever to format and are way more expensive than cd-r's.

really

at the price of cdr's I just burn a new one and chuck the old one.
I throw it in the fire in front of my tent:D

Sounds like they may have been defective if you have never had problems with them before. I agree with the other guys, just go CD-R. They're cheap and much quicker! :D

Ditto. I buy piles of CDRs, never CDRWs. Why bother when CDRs are just a few cents?

echoing the CD-R suggestion

Besides, when you make a bad or "no longer needed" CD-R, you can build quite a coaster collection. Or mini-frisbee collection. Or a nice set of emergency signal mirrors/reflectors in case you ever get lost in the wilderness.

Or, just chuck em in the ol' recycle bin, like I do.

I like the coaster idea. I have many fun things out of spent CD-Rs. If you have a good shreader, send on through it! It's VERY interesting.
