I've got a chance to buy a Carlsbro ProMix 16:8:2 mixing desk for £80 not too far away from me. The seller says that the desk is in full working order just that the pots could do with a clean and there's some button caps missing.

Anyone got any experience with this desk? I think I'm gonna pick it up for the price, seems like a pretty good deal and a good match for my Tascam 38.

I'd welcome any thoughts you guys have :)

Cheers

Cool beans! :)

Though I'd expect the lack of responses is due mostly to no one here ever hearing of that brand.

What can you tell us about the company?

Cheers! :)

Carlsbro is an English company dating back to 1960. I'd never come across any 'studio' gear of theirs however I've used quite a bit of their old PA equipment (which they're more known for).

They're still going now but seem to have broadened their product range to include everything from digital pianos to practice amps to full blown PA systems: Carlsbro Musical Instrument

The desk itself is pretty cool, there is zero information on the internet so I'm guessing it's a pretty rare beast. Has loads of features and routing capabilities. It's a little odd however as the channels are backwards so 16-1 left to right rather than 1-16.

My studiomaster desk has backwards labelled channels like that. I think it's so that channel side-cars can be added (mine has an additional 4 channels)

Oh yes that makes sense! I have seen a few of these backwards desks with the add-ons :) Cheers
