I can't open soundfont files with my m-audio soundcard and a soundfont player downloaded from rgcaudio.com. WIndows xp tells me it cannot open file.
I am using sonar 4 and have inserted the soundfont player as a softsynth. What am I doing wrong now????

:D Yo Gweekstr:

The other day I found a post here and it had two links to MIDI infomation. So, I linked and read. I don't do MIDI but I wanted to better understand the process.

What I remember about the reading was that NOT ALL gear is made to follow a specific MIDI process or channels or something like that. So, if your gear is in conflict, you need to push some different buttons to get your signals through.

Maybe you can find the post and check out the MIDI information. I just have a gut feeling that your gear is all right--you just need to use a different path to get the job done.

Are the Sound Fonts in the directory that the Sound Font player expects to find them in?

If yes, are the Sound Font files zipped or archived?

If no, check the file attributes of your SF files.

If your soundfont is compressed you'll more than likely need sfark decompression program. You can find it at www.melodymachine.com . I think it's still free but you'll have to find out. I'm to tired to go looking now. :D

If it's not that it's probably one of about five other decompression programs including Winrar. Can't remember the url for that one. But you can go to Download .com and find it there.
