i suppose i've asked this before but no-one was very clear on how i would do this

I want to be able to mix "hands on" and not mix using the mixer in sonar3.

I know i could mix using a control surface but i dont want to use plugins i want to use ouboard effects to mix with too.
i'll be using a delta 1010 soundcard.

i dont want to record all the tracks and then have to run the signal of a track out of my delta 1010,into a reverb or eq then back into the delta 1010 input and record the new track with whatever effect is use, that would take a long time to mix a song if i had to do that with evry track.

how can i mix using an anolog desk with outboard gear.

for example, i would record a drumkit by setting up all the mics , pluging them into an 8 channel preamp then into my delta 1010,arm the tracks in sonar for recording then record the drums.
After that i'd do the same with bass/guitar/vocals and i'd have a full song.

when i come to mixing it i want to use outboard gear ,
eq's,compressors ,reverb,etc . and i want to mix ''hands on'' .

How would i do this?
again , sorry for asking this before i just didnt realy make it clear on what i wanted.
thanks alot for the help.

Run the signals you want processed out of your 1010 and straight into the outboard gear. The output of the gear goes into the inputs of your mixer.

To group effects, run the signals straight to your mixer and use the aux sends to your outboard equipment and run them back into your analog mixer to the aux returns. Adjust the degree of the signal you want to manipulate by playing with the aux send and return knobs.

Whether it's possible to route the final mix back to the 1010 I'm uncertain, as I mix from an analog board to a dat machine. Some people run the mix to a 2 inch tape machine or through another card on their pc.

ahhh i understand now , thanx very much for the help :)
