I have absolutely no computer recording experience to speak of. I use my computer to do CD labels and to access the net. Now I need help. I don't even know if this is possible: If I were to throw an mp3 up on the net somewhere, could somebody convert that to a standard MIDI file for me? Is this possible to do? If so, would someone be willing to help me out? I would need the the midi file to be less than 20k (it really is a short piece that is going to be looped as background music on a website).
Please, if anyone can help, I really need it.
Thanks in advance.

P.S. If this is too much to ask (i really haven't a clue) please just tell me, and I will figure out a way to do it. I would take the time to learn all of this, but time is of the essence.

Cakewalk has a utility that converts the rhythm to a click track stored as a MIDI file, but in general, I've not heard of any program that will extract the MIDI equivalent from a .wav or .mp3 file. Your best bet would be to upload the sheet music in .jpg or .gif format and have someone convert that to a .mid file.

Thanks Doc, I figured that might be the case.
Back to the drawing board...

Thanks for that link CH. I D/L-ed both of their .wav to .mid converters, and while neither actually works, the smaller one was very interesting. Who knows- this might be possible someday.
