Can I run my Tube amp without tubes?

He could also give himself a severe shock if he turned the amp on and stuck his finger or metal object in a socket.

That'll probably stop him.

I got the wrong idea when I read this thread title....

I was thinking someone wanted to pull thier power tubes out and use thier amp strictly as a preamp....

Technically it could work!! Maybe I'll try it someday....

Reminds me when my son was about 2 I got a new amp 100w tube, it was delivered and I took it out of the box, turned round to get a guitar lead and in an instant the little sod had managed to get the ring end of a spanner that I had left out and snapped the stem of the volume control, I hadn't even turned it on.
I surprised my self, I just picked him up gave him to my wife and said keep him away from me till I cool off.
