short story . in 95 I bought a Roland Jv-30 as my first "real" keyboard. I used this to create many different songs via midi and cakewalk 3.0, cut to 2001 I was a broke SOB and pawned this KB Fast forward to 2005 Im doing much better money wise and no matter what song I hear on the radio classical rock rap You name it im always playing the song on my leg via the invsible leg KB so I decide to do a Little research on what KB's are out now and due to budget I settled on the RS-70 after hearing the demo on the roland site. I thought this was a Vast improvement over the JV-30. and according to the specs it is, save for the lack of aftertouch. now after spending this evening reading many posts on this board im somewhat wondering if I am going to be happy with this new synth when the brown truck brings it in about 12 hours. any comments + or - appreciated.
btw some of the midi stuff i created with the jv-30 is available for your torture at flynlr.njrod.com .
"edit" my modern PC does not have ISA slots which is what my old midi card uses should I have any problems hooking this synth up via USB should it work in the old cakewalk 3.0 which i still have.?

I think the MIDI USB connection should work with just about any software sequenser, because it is just recognized as a normal MIDI input/output.

Personally, I would have searched for a used XP-30. The RS series, even though being newere, is still inferior.

well it came and I am still discovering what I can and cannot do. now to figure out matching the patches with the settings in sonar.
didnt have any problems with midi.
