I probably should put this in the forum but I'm also a newbie!! I am going from my Yamaha 4-track analog to goldwave and then into cakewalk. My problem is that when I get the wave file into cakewalk I set the levels, add effects, and edit but when I save (and export audio)and then burn to cd it never reads any of my changes. It seems to just read the wave file itself. Levels are all over the place amd no effects come through. Am I missing something here? Do I have to mix it out of cakewalk to something else (i.e. 4-track or my DAT) in realtime for my changes to transfer and then put that mix back into the cpu? Kind of defeats the purpose of cakewalk if it has to leave the cpu once it's in there. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !! Is cool edit better than goldwave?? Thanks again!

I can't really say for sure because I don't have Cakewalk on the computer I am currently on and I don't know what version you have but I have an idea of what the problem might be. I think there is an option in the same pull down menu as export audio which is titled mixdown audio. If you aren't using this, then you need to highlight all the tracks you want to use and mix them down into two stereo tracks. These tracks will have all the real time effects and correct levels and can then be exported and burned.

Cliff, thanks for your quick reply!! I think that's the step I was missing........I appreciate your help.
